Spin premieres Jeffertitti’s Nile Bessie Smith cover

Jeffertitti’s Nile will release their new album, The Electric Hour, via Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records on April 29th. The Father John Misty bassist stepped front and center on this down-and-dirty Bessie Smith cover, featuring Josh Tillman on drums. Recorded largely on analog tape, The Electric Hour was recorded in Ojai, California, at the studio of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and at Jazz Cats in Long Beach, the studio run by Jonny Bell from Crystal Antlers (who shows off his saxophone skills on one track).
